To find P% of a value, convert P to a decimal by dividing by 100, then multiply by the value.
Use percentage difference when comparing two values and neither value is specifically the original or baseline.
Use percentage change when one value is the starting point and the other is the new value after an increase or decrease.
Quick guide
A percentage expresses a quantity as a fraction of 100. For example, 25% means 25 out of every 100, which is the same as 0.25 in decimal form.
Example: To calculate 20% of 150, use 150 × 20 ÷ 100 = 30. To find what percentage 30 is of 150, use 30 ÷ 150 × 100 = 20%.
The calculators above accept decimal values and negative values where the underlying formula permits them. Very large or very small results are formatted for readability without changing the calculation itself.
FAQ
Multiply the number by 15 and divide by 100. For 15% of 200: 200 × 15 ÷ 100 = 30.
Divide the first number by the second and multiply by 100. If 45 out of 60 items are complete, 45 ÷ 60 × 100 = 75%.
Percentage difference compares two values symmetrically. Percentage change treats one value as the starting value and measures how far the new value has moved from it.
Yes. All four calculators accept decimal inputs. You can also paste numeric values directly into the fields.
